Software Development, Spotlight Series

Cosmonic’s Goal Is To Make Developers’ Lives Easier

In the early days of software development (and those days are unfortunately still with us in some companies), applications were handcuffed. They were typically built for a specific operating system like Windows or Linux, and designed to run on specific hardware. That limited the apps in numerous ways.

It’s been clear for some time that a different way to build apps was needed. And Cosmonic, along with its wasmCloud platform, understands that and is leading the charge for a better way—a way that frees up developers to focus on what’s really important, which is creating great software.

That’s the focus of this Spotlight Series video with ActualTech Media CEO Scott Lowe and Cosmonic’s Liam Randall, CEO and also co-Creater of wasmCloud. As Randall explains, “… what we’re trying to do here is make developer’s lives easier. We want to help them write software more quickly and run it anywhere.”

It’s done through abstraction, using the wasmCloud platform and various tools to break the bonds between code and hardware and OSes, providing the key to unlocking the handcuffs that have shackled developers for ages.
